Safety has been and always will be the number one priority at all of our locations. We keep our groups small with no more than 4 divers per group. Our dive guides are all PADI certified Divemasters or Instructors who are experienced in taking all levels of divers. We keep our refresher divers separate from the fun divers so there is no pressure to rush through the skills and we have small speed boats with each dive boat so there can be easier or harder dive site options.
Our equipment is well maintained by our onsite technician, all of which is included in your package price. Our custom designed dive boats are equipped with full safety equipment ensuring you can travel around the Komodo National Park is style and enjoyment, safe in the knowledge you made a fantastic choice to dive with Scuba Junkie Komodo!
All the reasons for diving Komodo couldn’t possibly all be listed here! From dives with the majestic mantas rays and gorgeous turtles to stunning corals and colour nudibranchs - there is so much for every diver to enjoy. The currents may make this area famous, but our crew will never take a diver somewhere they wouldn’t feel comfortable. For every exhilarating drift dive there is a sheltered site that allows the diver to gently cruise along the reef at their own pace.
There is an array of sites suitable for the refresher and many of them boast turtles, sharks, beautiful corals and even manta rays!
The refresher will cover the following things:
On the boat ride to the dive site: Your guide will run through the dive equipment you will be using and how to set it up. Once they have demonstrated this you will be able to practice it yourself. They will then go through the skills you will practice. Before getting into the water you will do a pre-dive safety check and your deep water entry. Each skill with be thoroughly explained and there will be plenty of opportunities to ask any questions about anything you don't understand.
In the water: Your guide will demonstrate each skill before you do it then give you the chance to practice yourself. The skills will include regulator removal, clearing and recovery, mask clearing skills, an out of air scenario and buoyancy skills. Anything you have troubles with your guide will be happy to help and provide tips and tricks to make things easier. After the skills have been completed you will do a dive as normal - look out for turtles, sharks and manta rays! You guide will also help you complete a weight check to ensure you have the correct number of weights to feel good during the dive.
After the dive: The guide will go through disassembly of the kit and washing. Your guide will also complete log books with you so you can note down the type of wetsuit you used and the number of weights so that you know for next time! This is also a great opportunity to talk about all the incredible things you saw!
The refresher is incorporated into a normal diving day so it will have as little impact on your diving trip as possible - aside from the great feeling of confidence you’ll have after it! The skills are completed in a sheltered area and generally only take up a small part of your first dive. After that all the focus is on finding the best marine life out there!

Open Water Divers with less than 50 dives: After 6 months or longer without diving
All divers with less than 100 dives: After 1 year or longer without diving
All divers with less than 300 dives: After 1,5 years or longer without diving
All divers: After 2 years or more without diving
