Thinking about Booking Komodo? If Komodo National Park has been sitting on your dive bucket list for a while… this is your sign to start planning sooner rather than later.
Komodo is widely regarded as one of the best diving destinations in the world — and once you get underwater, it’s easy to understand why. From thrilling drift dives and colourful coral reefs to manta rays, sharks, turtles, giant schools of fish, and some of the best macro life in Indonesia, every dive in Komodo feels completely different from the last.
One day you could be diving iconic sites like Batu Bolong or Castle Rock surrounded by huge schools of fish, while the next day you’re slowly searching the reef for frogfish, ghost pipefish, nudibranchs, and blue-ring octopus. Add in stunning island landscapes, breathtaking sunsets, and warm tropical waters, and it’s no surprise that Komodo has become one of the most in-demand dive destinations in Southeast Asia.
And because of that growing popularity, planning ahead has become more important than ever.

Komodo’s peak diving season — particularly from June to September, fills up very quickly each year. These months often bring fantastic visibility, excellent conditions in the north of the park, and some of the most reliable marine life encounters.
At Scuba Junkie Komodo, we intentionally keep things small and personal:
Because of this, rooms and dive spaces can book out months in advance during busy periods. The Garden Cottages are usually the first to fill, especially for longer stays and group trips.
If you already have travel dates in mind, we strongly recommend booking as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
In early 2026, Komodo National Park introduced a daily visitor quota system as part of ongoing conservation efforts to protect the park’s extraordinary marine biodiversity and natural habitats.
The park now limits the number of visitors entering Komodo National Park each day. As part of this system, permits must now be secured in advance and are linked to specific travel dates. This makes Booking Komodo well in advance even more important.
What this means for travellers is simple:
To help make the process as smooth as possible, we now arrange permits for our guests ahead of arrival. Because permits are limited and date-specific, payment for Komodo National Park permits is required in advance alongside booking deposits.
You can read more about the Visitor Quota in our recent blog.

Booking ahead helps ensure:
A little extra planning now can make a huge difference later — and it’s worth doing properly.
While the new permit system requires more organisation than before, it ultimately exists for a very important reason: protecting one of the most unique marine ecosystems on Earth.
By limiting visitor numbers and managing tourism more sustainably, Komodo National Park can continue to preserve:
We fully support these conservation efforts and encourage all visitors to plan ahead so we can continue enjoying this incredible underwater world responsibly.
If you’re thinking about visiting Komodo — especially during high season — our advice is simple: don’t leave it too late.
The combination of limited resort space, small dive groups, and the newly implemented permit system means that early booking is now more important than ever.
We’d love to help you plan your trip and experience the magic of Komodo with us!
